Apollo 13 / Maplewood II

The theater manager of Maplewood II, Scott Geiger, was GREAT!!!!

He is an independent and thus received NO N.S.S. FLYERS and was very glad to get them and some mini-posters we had gotten from Chicago distributers.

He had, on his own, (with his own money and staff time)

• Featured the displays on the Marquee
  
• Painted a mural for the film over his front glass lobby for the film.
  
• Hosted display by MN Space Frontier, Featuring Photos, Patches and Actual Apollo Controls built by MN's Honeywell, models, and Press release info and artwork
  NSS flyers on Apollo 13 and MN SFS's Downrange
  

  [He contacted US. We overlooked him because he WASN'T on our list of theaters showing the film that we had gotten from the Chigago distributer a few weeks before]

• Hosted display by MN Air National Guard Two Fighter cockpit simulators which you could sit in and get your photo taken for a donation to the MN-ANG. [No photo available]

• Build a walk through space capsule that you HAD to pass through to get to any of the films. Walk through a space capsule on the way to the movies

• Put up a model of the solar system and hung it from the ceiling that ran the length of the lobby.
• Had prizes for kids who could answer solar system trivia questions.
  
• ALL of the lobby posters were JUST for Apollo 13 although he was showing other films.
• Gave out Apollo 13 Movie buttons with purchace of food.
  
• Displayed copies of Page 1 of 'St Paul Pioneer Press' published during the flight. and a LIFE magazine artile published afterwards. (great reading while standing in line)
  
• Had TV coverage from TWO local TV stations KMSP-TV UPN 9 and KSTP.
• Displays will be featured in an upcoming theater manager magazine.
