As most of you know the LX200 at Onan is being sent out for repairs. In its place Kurt Casby is generously loaning us his spare 16' LX200 until ours is returned. This will prevent us from being a scope short during what could be a busy time at Onan. Thanks Kurt!
For this Saturday's Public Star Party we have a special event and a extra special attraction. The special event is the shadow transit of Titan across Saturn. This could be the last, best chance we get to see this rare event at our location. The special attraction is the 8" TMB refractor.
This scope has been donated by our anonymous benefactor, pending the building of a observatory to house it. For the first time it will be at Onan and will offer the best views possible of Titans' transit. This will also give everyone a chance to see through one of the finest instruments made and hopefully spark the desire to see the new building get started as soon as possible.

Onan Public Night May 30th, 2009
The next Onan Public Night May 30th, 2009 will be on Saturday, May 30, at the Onan Observatory in Baylor Regional Park. As noted above, this will be a special Public Night, featuring a transit of Saturn by its moon Titan. We also hope to have an 8" TMB refractor on site, which is an excellent instrument for high magnification views of planets.
Public night events begin at 7:00 PM and last until at least 10:00 PM or later if the skies are clear. Public Observing Nights are held whether it is clear or cloudy. If cloudy, a program will substitute for actual observing. There is no fee for attending and members, guests and visitors are all invited. Please note that Carver County Parks may charge a nominal parking fee.
