Today we had a late waking up at 8 am. The end of our mission is getting closer and even the Commander wants to stay in bed a little bit more each morning. This morning has been dedicated to the writing all our end-of-mission reports. Even though we have been used to writing a bunch of daily reports during our mission, this exercise has been especially difficult since we have had to summarize everything that we did during the last two weeks.
Ok, I am not going to bother you in talking about our reports. Instead I prefer to tell you that right now (it is around 9 p.m.), Jon is in the middle of a mouse hunt. He seems really keen on catching at least one mouse before the end of the mission. The mouse appeared a few minutes ago when Catherine took the cookies out of the oven. By the way, let's go back to this morning as I doubt Jon is going to catch the mouse tonight.
At noon, we decided to take a break and go to "Downtown" Hanksville to eat something. Everybody was happy to be back in the civilization. We went to Blondie's, probably the only restaurant in the small city lost in the middle of nowhere. In the restaurant they had T-shirts with slogans such as "Where the Hell is Hanksville?", I understand why! The books "A guide to understanding women" and "How to live surrounded by dumb people" on the table were evidence of our successful landing on Earth. Personally I really enjoyed my last burger before going back to France.
This afternoon, we did our last crew EVA. Everybody suited up for a short hike north from the Hab. We just walked in the hills, enjoying our last EVA together. The atmosphere was fun and friendly. In spite of the wind, we took some cool pictures. Catherine insisted to be in a couple of private pictures with the Commander! I climbed to the top of the hill to admire the incredible view to the Utah desert for one of the last time. Then, we went back to the Hab to finish our reports and spend time together for one of our last nights at MDRS.
